Poll shows Hochul and Collins still in dead heat

Millions of dollars have been spent, countless ads have been run and the public appearances continue in the race for the 27th Congressional District.

Despite exhausting efforts, the latest Siena Research Institute poll shows a deadlocked race with Republican Chris Collins leading Democrat Kathy Hochul by one point. The margin of error is 4 percentage points. Results show that Collins leads in Erie County, while Hochul has gained support in the eastern end of the district. An interesting development shows voters finding Hochul's campaign being increasingly negative, while favorability numbers for Collins have risen.

The poll was sponsored by the Buffalo News and WGRZ-TV.
