It's a rarity for the Buffalo Fire Department: an all-female crew assigned to the same truck.
The Buffalo News reports that it happened on Thursday, when the scheduling unintentionally resulted in four women working on Engine 4 in South Buffalo.
The department is only 5 percent female and there are usually no more than two women on the same schedule at once.
Lieutenant Kate Keane and firefighters Sue Farry, Michelle Burke and Debbie Ernest all have been firefighters for more than a decade.
They said they enjoyed a chance to get together and catch up while working out of the same firehouse.
Two of the Buffalo Fire Department's 16 chiefs are women.
