Authorities said a defective lawn tractor that caught on fire caused the grass blaze on nearly three acres of property of Dunlop Tire.
Some nearby roads were closed and travelers on the 190 and at the 290 split could see the flames and smoke during the late afternoon rush hour.
By early evening, the fire was under control, and fire crews cleared out, reopening roads before 9 p.m. Tuesday. No one was hurt.
