Story of police abuse could re-open case

WBFO/AM 970 News

A man convicted of murder and a slew of other charges is requesting a new trial.

Thamud Eldridge was arrested by Buffalo Police officers Earl Perrin and Mark White in 2005. The basis for the request is a story of abuse during the arrest told by Perrin at an Atlanta hotel bar on 2010. That story of the officers severely beating Eldridge was overheard by a federal prosecutor. That evidence could re-open the trial but is not likely to lead to Eldridge's release.

US District Judge Richard Arcara has ordered a hearing into the case.
