WBFO/AM 970 News

Intense heat continues to bake the Western New York region.

For the second day in a row, a new record high temperature was reached. The National Weather Service reports that a reading of 96 degrees was recorded on Saturday, overtaking the previous mark of 94 degrees set in 1887. Friday's high of 94 tied the record for that date. The record high for Sunday is 93 degrees set in 1947, though temperatures are forecast to be more temperate.

Blustery winds overnight on Saturday also caused a number of downed tree limbs.

There have been a few scattered power outages reported, though the number of homes affected are minimal.
