Students at Lake Shore High School in Angola are mourning the loss of a student.
A student was found dead at the school Thursday night. Authorities believe it was an apparent suicide.
WBFO & AM-970 News spoke with the Lake Shore Central School District superintendent James Przepasniak. He said they are honoring the wishes of the family and will not be releasing any additional information.
Lake Shore Central is offering grief counseling services for students and employees. The District is expressing its deepest sympathies to the family members, friends and classmates of the student.
Town of Evans Police are not commenting on the death. The high school's senior prom will be held tonight as planned
The following is a statement issued by the schools superintendent:
The Lake Shore Central School District is offering grief counseling services for students and school employees due to the death of a high school student.
Honoring the wishes of the family, the Lake Shore School District will not be releasing any additional information.
“On behalf of the entire school community, I would like to express my deepest sympathies over this loss--as our thoughts and prayers are with family members, friends and classmates,” Superintendent of Schools James Przepasniak said.
Grief and counseling services were made available throughout the day and families in need of support are encouraged to contact Crisis Services at 834-3131.
Grief support and counseling services will be made available through the District’s School Counseling Center and Family Support Center for the remainder of the school year.
The school is following its response plan and all School District activities and functions are continuing as scheduled.
