With the spring holidays approaching, and New Yorkers making preparations to travel and gather with loved ones, Gov. Kathy Hochul is encouraging everyone to stay vigilant in the fight against COVID-19. That includes getting boosted and making sure children are vaccinated.
"Remember to get tested before you travel, and if you test positive, isolate from others and talk to your doctor about treatments," Hochul said. "We've made great progress in fighting the spread of COVID-19 and keeping our numbers down. Let's continue to move forward through this pandemic safely."
The state on Monday said there were more than 4,000 new cases of COVID across New York as of Sunday, or a positivity rate of 4.4%. That's up from 3.73% Friday, and includes more than 1,000 hospitalizations and 13 new deaths in healthcare facilities.
The state's 7-day average is 24.85 cases per 100,000, up from 22.23 Friday. And rates do not include positive cases found by at-home testing kits.
The 7-day average positivity rate for Western New York is at 7.16%. That's also up from 6.33% Friday. Western New York's 7-day average per 100,000 people is 19.42 cases, up from 17.52 Friday.
