Every county in the state, including the five boroughs of New York, has reached COVID-19 transmission levels high enough that the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends masks be worn indoors, even if you're vaccinated.
New York State's positivity rate is 3% as of Sunday. But in Western New York, rates are mostly higher:
- Chautauqua County 3.8%
- Cattaraugus County 3.3%
- Niagara County 4.9%
- Allegany County 3.7
- Erie County 2.9%
The seven-day positivity rates for Western New York counties are higher:
- Chautauqua County 9.2%
- Cattaraugus County 5.0%
- Erie County 3.6%
- Niagara 3.5%
- Allegany County 3.2%
