Neurologists and best-selling author Oliver Sacks has died .
The 82-year old author was found in his New York City home on Sunday six months after announcing he was terminally ill with ocular melanoma, a rare eye cancer which had spread to his liver.
Through Sacks' writings and descriptions of his patients complications, he was able to create a pathway for the rest of society to be introduced to syndromes like Tourette's and Aspergers.
Over 1 million of Sacks' books are in print across the U.S. He is author of “The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat,” and "Awakenings", a book about patients who spent years in a helpless and almost frozen state. The book was turned into a Oscar- nominated movie starring Robin Williams in 1990.
