Wegmans voluntary product recall

Photo from Wegmans Website

Wegmans is recalling its Wegmans Food You Feel Good About Roasted Red Pepper Dip.

Wegmans says it is recalling approximately  1,100 units of the product.  The Roasted Red Pepper Dip comes in an 8-ounce  plastic tub, with a best-by date of May 17, 2013 and bearing UPC 77890 23286.

Wegmans says they are recalling the product because some of the tubs may have an incorrect ingredient label that does not list milk and eggs. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk or eggs run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

The product is produced for Wegmans by Summer Fresh Salads in Woodbridge, Ontario, Canada.

There have been no reported illnesses to date.

The recall was initiated after a customer contacted Wegmans’ consumer affairs department and made them aware of the label discrepancy.

The product may be returned to the service desk for a full refund.

The affected units were distributed to Wegman stores in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Maryland, and Massachusetts.
Concerned customers should return the product to their local Wegmans service desk for a full refund. Wegmans customers with questions or concerns should contact the consumer affairs department at 1-855-WEGFOOD (934-3663), Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. EDT.
