Some brand new peregrine falcon chicks have hatched high atop the University at Buffalo South campus.A female falcon had recently laid four eggs. It appears three to four are now hatched.
You can see the shells of the hatched eggs near the female as she protects the new chicks from the UB Falcon Web cam in a nesting box above the MacKay Tower.
The female falcon that laid the eggs is a replacement. The former female falcon that had been perched on the campus for several years was removed because she had been responsible for numerous attacks on people on and near the campus over the last three years. State wildlife had captured the bird and placed her in another area in Western New York.
