The Christmas Eve death of a popular Niagara Falls deli owner has been ruled a homicide.
Jessie Richardson, 69, who ran Richardson's Restaurant on Highland Avenue, was found dead from a gunshot wound on the morning of Dec. 24, with a gun in his hand.
Those who knew him do not believe the death was the result of suicide, and believe he had a gun to protect himself. Members of his family believe he was killed by a person or persons involved in multiple robberies at both his home and business.
People came out in masses on Dec. 27 to hold a candlelight vigil for Richardson outside the fast food delicatessen he established in 1994. He also served meals.
Niagara Falls Police are continuing their investigation.
