A Buffalo man charged with killing his ex-girlfriend is now also charged with killing his mother. Charles Jones, 24, stood silently and showed little emotion in Erie County Court Monday morning as a grand jury indictment was unsealed. Jones was charged a month ago in the death of Jacquetta Lee, 25, who was found stabbed inside her Main Street apartment on on July 18 after she was reported missing by family members.

Erie County District Attorney John Flynn says when police went to arrest Jones for killing Lee they found the body of his 52-year-old mother Alethia Atwood Williams. Her body was found on Aug. 16 in a closet inside her apartment on Jefferson Avenue near East Ferry Street

Flynn says an investigation into the February 2018 death of Jones' and Lee's 10-month-old daughter is also underway.

"Mr. Jones, to be clear, has not been charged with killing the baby. He's being looked at, but he has not been charged," Flynn said.

Jones is charged with two counts of second-degree murder. He pleaded not guilty and is being held without bail. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of 50 years to life in prison.
