It was quite the scene on West Avenue in the Buffalo Thursday afternoon. Buffalo Narcotics Squad members conducted a raid, during which they say they found evidence of a crystal methamphetamine operation. One man was arrested on various drug charges, after the area was secured, and other agencies were called in to assist.Chief of Detectives Dennis Richards says his narcotics detectives discovered the man eventually arrested in a garage in the 800 block of West Avenue on the city's West Side around 4:30 p.m. While executing the search warrant, Richards says police discovered not only the crystal meth batch, but one and a half pounds of marijuana and crack cocaine.
Arrested is Thomas J. Eisenberger Jr., 33, of Amherst. Eisenberger is charged with an A II felony count regarding unlawfully possessing methamphetamine, plus criminal possession of marijuana and criminal possession of controlled substances.
Buffalo police secured the immediate area and Buffalo Fire Department's Haz Mat crew responded to the scene, as well. The New York State Police Clandestine Lab Unit was called in to assist and dispose of the lab.
Additionally, Buffalo police called in the Erie County Sheriff's Bomb Squad respond to the scene, when three suspicious sticks were discovered. Richards said police believed they looked very much like explosives. Those items were turned over to the sheriff for disposal and are not believed to have been explosive.
