A Depew woman has been sentenced to 1-1/3 to four years in state prison in the drugged-driving death of 72-year-old Carol Dion, also of Depew. Sarah Skotnicki, 26, also will have her driver's license suspended for a year after her prison term for criminally negligent homicide. The Erie County District Attorney's Office said Skotnicki was high under the influence of difloroethane, a chemical found in cleaner, and driving her pickup truck erratically at speeds more than 70 miles per hour in a 30-mile-per-hour zone on French Road on September 9, 2015. Skotnicki's car crossed the double-yellow line and struck Dion's car head-on, killing Dion. Dion's 24-year-old granddaughter, Katrina Dion, was a passenger in the car and was injured.
