Another Buffalo police officer has been charged with depriving someone of his Constitutional rights and this case is complicated because he did it on camera.
Suspended Officer Corey Krug is charged with depriving a citizen of rights under color of law.
The incident behind the charges took place in the early hours of last Thanksgiving on Chippewa and was videotaped by Channel 7 and may have been recorded on city surveillance cameras.
One charge deals with an attack on the man named as "DF" and the other charge is that Krug stomped on the man's cell phone.
"You have to conduct a competent investigation because police officers do use force. We do have to do things that sometimes may give the appearance of improprieties. And, just because a police officer is using force, shoots somebody or uses their baton does not mean that they are doing something wrong. It's fully within the scope of their employment," said FBI Special Agent in Charge Brian Boetig.
Boetig says his agents conducted a number of interviews and did look at the TV footage.
Krug faces up to ten years in jail. A date has not been set for his initial court appearance.
