A man has died as a result of a shooting on Woodell Avenue in Cheektowaga, last night.Police are investigating why 54-year-old Joseph Lawrence, Jr. was shot once in the stomach by his downstairs neighbor, 53-year-old Thomas Szczesniak. Lawrence was taken to Erie County Medical Center, and died during surgery. Szczesniak was arraigned in Cheektowaga Town Court, today. He has been charged with second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree. No reports have been made as to what caused the violent act.
