About the Performers
Buffalo Girlchoir was founded in the fall of 2015 with a mission to provide exceptional music instruction to young women from all social strata culminating in performances at the highest level of artistic excellence. Since its inception, the group has grown from fourteen singers to nearly one hundred and has been invited to perform with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra on both Pops and Classics programs and has collaborated with many other arts and cultural organizations in Western New York. Women’s Choir of Buffalo has also recorded with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra on the Naxos label.
Kathleen Bassett, Founder and Artistic Director of Buffalo Girlchoir, has been conducting treble choirs for more than twenty years. Because of her enthusiastic pursuit of excellence, choirs under her direction have performed along-side professional orchestras including the Buffalo Philharmonic, the Cleveland Pops Orchestra, and Apollo’s Fire: The Cleveland Baroque Orchestra. She is an avid guest conductor of festival and honor choirs. Passionately dedicated to music education, Ms. Bassett has taught in classrooms ranging from pre-school to college including teacher education programs. She frequently presents at conferences and is a Buffalo Philharmonic Teaching Artist working to bring orchestral experiences to the developmentally disabled.
