Volunteers from Amherst Helping Hands are handing out homemade face masks at the Islamic Society of Niagara Frontier 's Masjid An-Noor mosque at 745 Heim Road in Getzville.
"If we saved one life because someone wore a mask that we made, it was worth it," said organizer Yasmin Dara, who founded the project in her home before it bloomed into a much effort in the region's Islamic community. "We have grown from a few members to over 25 now. "
Adds volunteer Raheel Syed, "We are trying to help our friends and our neighbors and our fellow Americans"
