Documentary being created on Buffalo's rebirth

Plans are underway to create a new documentary about Buffalo's rebirth. A kickstarter campaign is underway to gain support for filming Buffalo Hates You Too: A Love Story. WBFO's Eileen Buckley met with the local director and an out-of-town producer working on the project to tell Buffalo's story.

Buffalo Director John Paget and Executive Producer Eric Porterfield have set out on a journey to create a film to counter attack negative statements about Buffalo.

"Buffalo is the most self-aware city that I've ever been in," said Porterfield.

"Buffalo is the most self-aware city that I've ever been in," said Eric Porterfield, Executive Producer.

Paget said the movie will be a feature film on the history and future of Buffalo.

"We think it is a great title that will help us to reach a national audience," said Paget. It's been a punchline for so long, nationally."

Paget has created other short films about the city, including Buffalo: America’s Best Designed City, This Place Matters and Buffalo For Real.  He has also been involved with several award-winning and nationally broadcast documentaries on iconic American topics like Route 66, Elvis Impersonators and Alcatraz Prison.

Porterfield is an Emmy-nominated film producer, writer and director. His recent works include 365 Days: A Year in Happy Valley.

"Following the story for two years is our objective, and that's a long time," said Porterfield.
