Democrat Jacqualine Berger (left) has moved ahead of Republican Ray Herman.

An apparent Election Night victory by Republican Ray Herman for a seat on the Amherst Town Board has been reversed, after the Erie County Board of Elections completed a count of absentee ballots in the town.

Democrat Jacqualine Berger earned 1,398 absentee votes, for a total of 13,985, compared to 608 absentee votes for the GOP's Herman, who received a total of 13,376 votes.

On Election Night, Herman had a plurality of 181 votes, which is now a lead for Berger of 609 votes. There are still 148 affidavit ballots pending, but that would not be enough votes for Herman to come back.

Also winning an Amherst Town Board seat was Democrat Shawn Lavin over Republican Dan Rider.
