The U.S. Capitol building is on lockdown after shots were fired, this afternoon, on the building's west front. Reports are limited, but suicide is suspected. U.S. Capitol Police Spokeswoman, Kimberly Schneider, said the shooter has been neutralized. Schneider said Capitol Police are also investigating a suspicious package on the lower West Terrace of the building.

The Capitol, the visitors center, and some surrounding streets are on lock down as a precautionary measure. No one is being allowed to enter or exit.

Federal officials say there are no indications of terrorism at this time.

Congress has been on spring break for two weeks and lawmakers are set to return to work Monday.
