Dr. Richard Judelsohn, a local pediatrician and dedicated public health advocate for more than 45 years, died Sunday night after a lengthy illness.
Judelsohn also served as a WBFO program volunteer since 1976.
Dr. Judelsohn was lead physician at Buffalo Pediatric Associates. He was also a medical director at the Erie County Health Department and had served as president of the Erie County Board of Health.
Outgoing Erie County Health Commissioner Dr. Anthony Billittier worked with Dr. Judelsohn over the last 11-years.
Billittier called him "icon" of public health.
"He was a pediatrician who had a very strong interest in public health and a long history with the Erie County Health Department. His particular area of expertise was immunization. He was a fan and an proponent of immunizing our children," said Billittier.
Billittier said outside of the medical field -- he will remember Judelsohn as "Doctor Jazz".
Funeral service will be held Wednesday, 10:30 AM at Temple Beth Zion, 805 Delaware Ave., Buffalo.
