Buffalo, NY – As protests heat up across the nation by the organization Occupy Wall Street, another citizens group is fighting against JP Morgan Chase on foreclosures.
New York Communities for Change is teaming with Occupy Buffalo, MoveOn.org and Working Families Party. They are on urging the Buffalo Common Council to introduce a resolution that calls for no long-term bonding with Chase or the divestment of any of its accounts with the company.
Harold Miller is the upstate director of Communities for Change. He said it is part of a statewide campaign to fight foreclosures.
"Municipalities, like the Village of Hempstead down in Long Island, decided to really put their money where their mouth is, and divest their accounts from Chase in protest" said Miller.
New York Communities for Change conducted a study that showed Chase has only modified six percent of loans for New York homeowners who sought help.
