Buffalo, NY – U.S. Postal workers rallied together at the Niagara Square Postal Station on West Genesee Street late Tuesday night.
The U.S. Postal Service held rallies in every congressional district to stage a national "Day of Action to Save America's Postal Service".
The Postal Service says it may close more than 250-mail processing facilities around the country.
Western New York Congressman Brian Higgins said if the postal service reworks their numbers it will save jobs.
"This is about how pension obligations are calculated, and the bill will seek to recalculate in a more and fair equitable way which will bring a lot more money into the Postal Service and away from the retirement system," said Higgins.
Congressman Higgins said the Postal Service is required to set aside $5.5 billion every year to pre-fund future retiree health care benefits. He said passing a bill by the House could change that federal requirement.
