Buffalo, NY – Burchfield joins 30-museums across the state displaying the "New York Remembers" exhibit featuring items recovered after the terrorist attacks of that dreadful day.

Kathleen Heyworth is head of marketing and public relations at Burchfield Penney. The 9-11 exhibit begins with a New York City Police vehicle parked inside the gallery entrance. Then there's a small show case containing some items recovered from Ground Zero where the towers collapsed.

The exhibit is in conjunction with the 9-11 Memorial Museum and New York Museum prepared for opening at the site of Ground Zero in 2012. But one item that delivers an eerie chill is a small piece of one of the airplanes that slammed into the World Trade Center Towers.

One of the larger pieces in this exhibit is a steel dedication pedestal from one of the Twin Towers. It's damaged, crumpled and scratched, but you can still read information inscribed on the steel with the dedication date of April 4, 1973. You can also see an etching of the twin towers, symbolic of the massive, iconic towers.

Across from the exhibit. Laura Donnelly is working at the museum gift shop. Looking at the 9-11 items brings back the horrible memories of that day for Donnelly. And, even though the events of September 11, 2011 left Donnelly's husband speechless, he did review the 9-11musuem exhibit. Donnelly says it is amazing to see items recovered from Ground Zero up close.

The 9-11 artifacts will remain at Burchfield Penney the rest of the month. And this Sunday, September 11th, the museum will feature commemorative programs perhaps offering citizens a place to pause and reflect ten-years later.
