14-year old re-enactor given beer before drowning

By Mark Wozniak

Fort Niagara, NY – State Park Police Tuesday confirmed that a 14-year old Ontario boy who drowned early Sunday after falling into Lake Ontario at Old Fort Niagara had been given beer by his mother and her friend.

Alexander Montgomery was participating in War of 1812 reenactments over the weekend with his mother Paula and her friend Peter Cooper.

They will face charges of providing alcohol to an underage child, a violation, and with endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor, when they appear in Porter Town Court next week.
