Buffalo, NY – Music students from around Western New York had a chance to show off their talents at the Erie Canal Inner Harbor Monday.
The Music is Art Summer student showcase featured over 400 students from more than 30 schools in the area. It is part of the Music is Art program.
There were jazz and rock bands, orchestras, and concert bands featured.
Executive Director of Music is Art Tod Kniazuk said it was the first ever Music is Art Summer event. He said they invited all the school districts that provide summer music programs to allow students to perform in public.
"So this is the first ever Music is Art, MIA live summer student showcase. And the idea was to invite all of the school districts that do summer music programs to come down to the inner harbor, to this beautiful water front in downtown Buffalo, and put on a show not just for each other in a high school gym somewhere," said Kniazuk.
The Music is Art organization was founded in 2003 by bass player of the Goo Goo Dolls Robbie Takac of Buffalo.
