UniverSoul Circus arrives at UB's city campus

Buffalo, NY – Exotic animals can be spotted in a parking lot off Main Street in Buffalo on UB's South Campus.

UniverSoul Circus has returned to Buffalo. It opens this Thursday, July 7th. This year it is being sponsored by UB's Office of Community Relations.

Trailers line a UB parkng lot parking lot across from the University Plaza, housing tigers and other animals featured in the circus.

The world-class, live attractions feature educational and culturally diverse entertainment.

UniverSoul, now in its 18th year, provides entertainment and live interactive shows impacting African American, Hispanic, Asian and other members of urban communities throughout the U.S.

The UniverSoul Circus has presented more than 8,000 performances in the top 50 US markets and in South Africa. It is considered one of the most critically acclaimed circuses in the nation. UniverSoul was founded by CEO Cedric Walker. It features international performers, music and animals. Walker's original vision was to explore the various talents of black performers.

The circus runs July 7-10. Tickets prices $12 to $26. Children under 1 are free. All tickets available by Ticketmaster at www.ticketmaster.com and 1-800-745-3000.

SHOWTIMES:

Thursday and Friday, July 7-8 @ 10:30 a.m. and 7:30 a.m.

Saturday, July 9 @ 12 noon, 4:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

Sunday, July 10 @ 3:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.

But with animals housed in trailers, an animal rights organization is planning to protest. WBFO News has learned that the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, known as PETA, already contacted the University's Community Relations to voice its opposition to the event. PETA is planning to protest at the event.
