Homicide victim identified

By WBFO News

Buffalo, NY – Buffalo police are continuing their investigation into an early morning shooting, in which a man was killed. Central District officers responding to a call of a "person shot" did locate a white male victim, in the area of St. Paul Mall and Ellicott Streets, around 3:00am.

He was rushed to the Erie County Medical Center by Rural Metro Ambulance, and was later pronounced dead at the hospital. The victim sustained injury from a gunshot to the back.

"Homicide detectives are attempting to trace the victim's whereabouts, before the shooting incident occurred," according to Dennis J. Richards, chief of detectives.

The deceased has now been identified by police as 35 year old Joseph Hale of Buffalo. "Mr. Hale was seen in the Allentown area earlier, in the morning, and prior to the shooting," according to Richards.
