Cuomo lobbies state senators on gay marriage bill

By WBFO News

Albany, NY – Governor Andrew Cuomo is lobbying individual state senators to secure what appears to be one more vote needed to legalize gay marriage in the state. He plans to meet with more senators Friday, ahead of a possible Senate vote.

Here in Western New York, an openly gay leader in Jamestown believes it has a real chance of approval. Gregory Rabb is president of the Jamestown City Council. Rabb says pressure continues on Buffalo Senator Mark Grisanti and Senator Cathy Young in the Southern Tier to vote yes.

"The pressure is even on someone who said they're against it," Rabb said. "We've been working hard on this. We're excited this might be the year we see it done."

It if wins Senate approval, New York would become the sixth state in the nation to allow same sex marriage.
