Buffalo, NY – As the race for the 26th Congressional District seat is nearing its end, a recent poll shows a significant shift in voter preferences.
The latest Siena College poll shows Democrat Kathy Hochul having grabbed the lead over Republican Jane Corwin by a narrow four points, 42 to 38 percent. Independent candidate Jack Davis trails significantly with 12 percent of support from voters.
What might seem even more significant is the fact that 55 percent of voters have a favorable view of Hochul while 49 percent find Corwin unfavorable. In any case, political analyst Bob Davis contends that the election is likely to draw a low voter turnout.
The special election is scheduled for this coming Tuesday. The elected representative will be replacing Chris Lee who resigned amid a personal scandal.
