Buffalo – State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman was in Buffalo Friday morning to announce that his office is now reviewing gas prices in Western New York.
Currently, the average for regular gas in Western New York is $4.07 per gallon. The national average, by comparison, is $3.98.
Schneiderman cautioned that the state probe may not necessarily find any wrongdoing, but added that investigators will take legal action against any sources found to be abusing consumers illegally.
In addition, Schneiderman announced he has accepted an invitation to join a panel assembled by U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder that will investigate gas prices at the national level, including a review of relations between oil companies, suppliers, refiners and retailers.
