Mayor Byron Brown's budget news conference, held April 29, 2011 in City Hall.
Buffalo – Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown's proposed budget for fiscal year 2011-2012 would hold true to his promise in February to reduce taxes by 15-percent and freeze tax rates over the next three years.
The mayor unveiled his proposed spending plan in an afternoon news conference. The estimated 462-million dollar budget amounts to an increase of just over one percent.
The budget sustains city funding for 900 jobs through the mayor's Youth Employment Program and includes funding to hire 43 new police officers and 35 new firefighters.
