Amherst woman found in UB pool has died

Buffalo, NY – An Amherst woman was found unconscious in a UB pool Thursday night has died. 27-year old Hua Ge died Friday morning at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital.

According to university officials, at around 7:45 p.m. Thursday Ge was found unresponsive by UB life guards in the Alumni Arena swimming pool. Officials say she was there for a recreational swim.

Lifeguards performed CPR and summoned UB Police, who also provided first aid. The Getzville Fire Department also responded, officials said in a written statement.

Ge was taken to the hospital by Twin City ambulance to Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, where she died this morning around 6:00 a.m. Her husband, uncle and UB staff were with her.

Ge was a a native of China and a 2009 UB graduate, who earned a master's degree in economics. University Police are conducting an investigation of the accident.
