Buffalo, NY – The Sabres were eliminated from post-season play Tuesday night following the team's 5 to 2 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers.
Buffalo fell behind early and by the third period, were trailing the Flyers 4 to nothing in Game seven of their Eastern Conference Quarterfinal series.
In the first period -- alone -- Buffalo was out-shot 16 to 2.
Head Coach Lindy Ruff said the Flyer's performance is an example of what Buffalo was unable to do in game 6.
"Our chance was in game six. We had it and we didn't take advantage of some of those situations that could have put that team away like they put us away tonight," said Ruff.
"A lot of disappointment right now," said Sabres goalie Ryan Miller.
Miller was pulled toward the end of the game. Following the game, a clearly dejected Miller said the Sabres failed to capitalize on great opportunities.
"What hurts the most is we had our chance we had a lead in the third period in our building and didn't get it done," said Miller.
Miller was referring to game 6 in Buffalo on Sunday afternoon when the Sabres -- twice -- game up two goal leads before losing to the Flyers.
The team will hold meetings Wednesday. Players will be cleaning out their lockers for the season Thursday.
