UB 2020 vision could shrink

Buffalo, NY – Talks are underway to reach a compromise on UB 2020 that could see the five billion dollar plan scaled back. UB officials are under pressure from state leaders to put forward a less ambitious plan that would focus more on the downtown campus.

Lawmakers also want more specifics about the public-private partnerships being proposed by UB. Assemblywoman Crystal Peoples-Stokes said she expects there will be more details in the plan going forward, and a more phased-in approach, rather than a scaled back plan.

UB officials declined WBFO's request to comment on tape. In a written statement they said that talks continue and they are encouraged by the Governor's ongoing interest in supporting UB 2020.

The Governor has called for a summit on the plan to be held in Albany early in May.
