Buffalo, NY – Buffalo's Sex Offense Unit has arrested a 20-year-old man in connection with an HIV case.
Darryl Fortner has been charged with reckless endangerment. Police say he is accused of engaging in sex with a woman while knowing he had tested positive for HIV.
Police said Fortner failed to tell the woman he tested positive for the disease that causes AIDS. Detectives believe it is possible there may be other victims in the Western New York area.
Buffalo Police Detective Jeff Rinaldo said the investigation is continuing.
Potential victim's are being urged to seek medical advise. Fortner was arraigned Wednesday morning in City Court. He's being held on $15,000 bail at the Erie County Holding Center. He will appear in court Tuesday for a felony hearing.
