Buffalo, NY – University at Buffalo Police tracked down the suspect involved in this past weekend's assault on the South campus.
22-year-old Michael Hicks of Rochester was arrested and charged for allegedly attacking a UB student in the lobby of the Goodyear Residence Hall early Sunday morning. Hicks is a former UB student.
UB Police Chief Gerald Schoenle tells WBFO News security cameras helped to identify Hicks.
"Once we got this information, we put it out on our facebook page, and did a timely warning, which is mandated for us to do a warning to our community. We told them about the injury to this student and that they could look at the photos on facebook. We had several of our students call us and tell us they knew who the individual was," said Chief Schoenle.
Hicks has been charged with assault, harassment and trespassing in the attack on UB student Michael Kociuba. The student was treated for minor injuries and released Sunday from ECMC.
Hicks will appear in Buffalo City Court on May 3.
UB police also issued a ban letter, which bars Hicks from UB property until the charges are resolved.
