Buffalo, NY – Muzzammil Hassan will be representing himself in his second degree murder trial.
Erie County Court judge Thomas Franczyk made the ruling late Monday morning after the trial resumed for a second week.
WBFO's Michael Mroziak was in the courtroom when the ruling was made.
Late last week Hassan told the court he was not pleased with the work of defense attorney Jeremy Schwartz.
Hassan was removed from the court to view the proceedings from a video link.
Monday, Schwartz told the judge he had irreconcilable difference with Hassan and asked if Hassan could represent himself.
The jury was not brought in when the trial resumed at 10 a.m. Monday as the issue was decided. Just before 11 a.m. jurors returned to the courtroom and the judge informed them that he will allow Hassan to represent himself.
Hassan is standing trial for the death of his 37-year-old wife Aasiya Hassan in February of 2009 at the couple's Orchard Park television station Bridges T.V.
