Buffalo, NY – A generous contribution from a local businessman has helped UB's School of Engineering and Applied Sciences construct a brand new building.
Jack Davis, owner and president of the Akron-based company I Squared R Element, contributed $5 million toward construction of the new engineering building.
UB announced that it named the building in honor of Davis and his wife, Barbara. Davis is best known for his vigorous attempts to run for Congress. Davis says he met UB Engineering Dean Harvey Stenger about four years ago. Davis is a 1955 graduate of UB's Engineering School.
The 130,000 square-foot building is now named "Barbara and Jack Davis Hall." Stenger is thrilled to have a building that will serve future engineering students .
Some unique features to the building include a "clean room" for micro electronic materials, plus a large auditorium and "smart room."
The building will also bring together faculty who are spread throughout the campus in several buildings.
