Buffalo, NY – The Wednesday morning commute filled with minor accidents and spin outs following a general snowfall that began around 6 o'clock Tuesday night.
Accidents on the 33, Scajaquda and mainline thruway slowed things down considerable Wednesday morning.
Crews were out treating roads overnight, but the steady snow was a step ahead of the plows, leaving sidestreets and major routes slick and snow covered.
Steve McGlaughlin at the Buffalo Airport weather station said this system arrived on cue and produced the expected amount of snow, but if it's any consolation, he says looking toward the weekend we won't see too much additional snow.
"Exactly as we exepcted. We probably got three to four inches overnight...We are expecting another one to two inches today and it will continue to be slippery," said McGlaughlin.
The National Weather Service is continuing until 5 o'clock Wednesday afternoon a Winter Weather Advisory for the entire region.
All runways at the Buffalo-Niagara International Airport are open Wednesday, but a storm that crawled up the coast has produced heavy snows east of Buffalo. That's causing problems for travels waiting for connecting flights.
