Buffalo, NY – Kaleida Health held a "topping off" ceremony Tuesday afternoon for its new inner city long term care facility.

The event marked the last sequence of steel on the new $64 million facility on Michigan Avenue in Buffalo.

"This project, just blocks from the new heart and vascular institute already under construction, is another example of Kaleida Health's commitment to delivering quality, compassionate care to all Western New Yorkers," said James R. Kaskie, president and CEO of Kaleida Health.

It will be the first urban nursing home built in the city in decades.

At four stories and 300 beds, it will rank as one of the largest nursing homes in the region and will fill a gap in long-term-care services resulting from the closure in recent years of Grace Manor, Nazareth, St. Francis and other skilled nursing facilities in the city of Buffalo.

Ground was broken on the project in August of 2010. The facility is expected to be complete by February of 2012.
