Buffalo, NY – Fire Saturday night heavily damaged a funeral home on Bailey Avenue in the city's University District.
Firefighters responded around 5:30pm to the United Memorial and Moss Funeral Home. Division Chief Scott Barry said strong winds were a problem.
Barry said two firefighters began falling through a floor but were able to catch themselves and made it out of the burning building safely.
"There's a lot of dangers in a fire -- collapsing floors and collapsing roofs. Those are some of the things we have to deal with," Barry said. "We do it professionally. Tonight, we did it successfully and those two firefighters will be able to go home tomorrow."
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
The building was not occupied at the time of the fire and there were no bodies inside.
