Buffalo, NY – Lake effect snow advisories are in effect until midnight for Erie and Wyoming Counties. That includes the City of Buffalo.
Occasional lake effect snow showers will leave another one to three inches of snow Monday across parts of the region, with highest accumulations in persistent bands north and east of Buffalo. 6 to 10 inches is expected in the Southern Tier.
Metro Buffalo and north of the city are finally receiving snow fall after escaping last week's heavy Lake Effect snow storm that dumped three feet of snow in some areas south of the City.
A Lake effect snow warning remains in effect until midnight for Niagara, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, Orleans and Genesee Counties. Eight to 12 inches of snow is expected along the Chautauqua Ridge and Southeast of Chautauqua Lake.
The City of Buffalo said snow removal continues in South Buffalo and Lovejoy. The department of Public Works estimates that 8,000 truckloads of snow have been removed and transported to the dump site at the corner of Abbey Street and South Park Avenue -- which is the old Republic Steel property now known as Steelfields.
The City said it expects that by today, as many as 10,000 truckloads of snow will be transported from South Buffalo and Lovejoy neighborhoods to that site.
The City is also notifying residents living in South Buffalo and Lovejoy that on-street parking restrictions will be enforced Monday.
The City is going to prioritize these areas for additional snow plowing-removal and will only have a seven hour window to work with.
Any street with a 6:00 p.m. Mon to 6:00 p.m. Thurs and 6:00 p.m.Thurs to 6:00 p.m. Mon designation should remain parked on one side of the street in the affected snow area of South Buffalo, Kaisertown and Lovejoy.
In the 6 to 6 areas the City is asking that residents remind each other to make sure that all cars are parking on one side only. The restriction in these 6 to 6 areas remains suspended as well as bus routes in the affected areas only.
