Buffalo, NY – The New York State Thruway re-opened to traffic at roughly 6:35 Friday morning. Despite hundreds of stranded motorists, some trapped for more than 10 hours, authorities say that no serious injuries or illnesses were reported.
The driving ban in South Buffalo and Lovejoy has been lifted. But a travel advisory remains in place. City officials continue to ask motorists to use caution when driving. The alternate parking rules for these areas have been suspended until further notice.

There is some snow in the forecast for areas south of the metro, where the National Weather Service has posted a lake snow advisory, but Steve McGlaughlin at the Airport Weather Station says most people should have a chance to dig out Friday.
