Buffalo, NY – The first significant snow storm of the season is moving through parts of the region.
A Lake Effect snow warning is posted for Erie, Genesee, Wyoming, Chautaqua and Cattaraugus Counties until 6 p.m. Thursday. A Lake Effect snow warning is also in effect until 6 a.m. friday for southern Erie, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, and Wyoming counties.
There is a traveler's advisory posted for no unnecessary travel in Cattaraugus County.
A flood warning is also in effect for the allegheny river in Cattaraugus County, that includes the cities of Salamanca and Olean until 730 pm Wednesday.
Snow could accumulate to more than a foot. Lke effect snow with some rumbles of thunder is possible Wednesday night. An additional accumulation seven to 13 inches in the most persistent snows is possible.
For Thursday, lake effect snow will continue. Snow may be heavy at times Thursday morning. Additional accumulation three to six inches in the most persistent snow areas.
Snow is likely to taper off by Thursday overnight.
