DeJac files suit over wrongful imprisonment

By Howard Riedel

Buffalo, NY – A Buffalo woman has filed a $30 million lawsuit against the city of Buffalo, Buffalo Police and former members of the Erie County District Attorney's office for wrongful imprisonment.

Lynn DeJac Peters spent 14 years in prison for the 1993 murder of her teenage daughter, Crystallyn Girard. That conviction was overturned in November 2007 after Buffalo cold case detective Dennis Delano helped uncover new evidence that exonerated her.

Former Erie County District Attorney Frank Clark was named in the suit, but current DA Frank Sedita, III, who helped exonerate DeJac, was not named in the suit.
