Buffalo, NY – It has been a long, and at times nasty campaign for New York Governor, but Tuesday both major party candidates cast their ballots.

Republican and conservative candidate Carl Paladino cast his vote late Tuesday morning at a church in South Buffalo. He was joined by his wife, Cathy at the Salem Lutheran Church on McClellan Circle near McKinley.

Paladino arrived just after 11 a.m. Tuesday morning. He joked with his wife as they began to fill out their ballot to make sure she votes for "Paladino". After voting, Paladino greeted reporters on the lawn of the church to take questions feeling very confident about his chances.

"We are going to win this today. The people are going to come and they are going to vote, and they are going to speak loud and clear. People want change and they know where they are going to get it," said Paladino.

"They want to tell their kids and their grand kids that there's a future in Western New York. They're going to vote, and we're going to win," said Paladino.

WBFO News asked Paladino if he would have done anything differently. Paladino responded any of his "missteps" were him and "just being human". But Paladino admitted he could have done things differently.

Paladino said this is the first time he had every done this. He promises voters, that if he wins, he would only serve for four years.

WBFO News also asked Paladino if he would consider running for local office. But he quickly responded loudly, "no more elections. This is it."

Paladino said he was heading home to take a nap this afternoon before he heads out for Tuesday's election results.

Meanwhile, his opponent, Democrat Andrew Cuomo, also cast his vote Tuesday morning. Cuomo was joined by his girlfriend Sandra Lee and two of his daughters at a Presbyterian Church in Mount Kisco, New York. "It's a big day for the state of New York. It has been an exciting campaign and it is going to be an exciting day," said Cuomo.

Today is what counts. and These polls are just guesses. nobody knows who is going to come out to vote. That's why it is important for democracy to work, you have to come out to vote. It's not the other person it is you," said Cuomo.
