Buffalo, NY – The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for Chautauqua and Cattaraugus Counties. It is in effect until 9'o'clock Tuesday night.

WBFO News was in touch with meteorologist David Zaff at the Buffalo Weather Service. Zaff said a strong line of thunderstorms is moving through Ohio and headed into Western New York.

The storms should hit Chautauqua between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. and Cattaraugus between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m.

The tornado watch includes the cities of Jamestown and Olean.

For the rest of the Western New York region, the rain storms will be accompanied by strong winds with gust between 35 and 50 miles a hour. About a half inch of rain could fall in most locations.
